A Star is, indeed, Born

It has now been almost 24 hours since I sat down in the cinema to watch Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut, A Star is Born, which marks the fourth remake of this classic Hollywood love story.   Since the moment the credits began to roll, with incessant tears running down my face, I have listened to the song ‘Shallow’ from the film’s soundtrack roughly 152 times.  A veritable masterpiece, both visually and vocally, Cooper and Lady Gaga have created a cinematic joy which you simply cannot miss.

The queen of haute-couture rebellion, Lady Gaga, has reentered the pop music scene with possibly her most personal album yet: Joanne. The Lady Gaga we are used to seeing in the public eye is larger-than-life, over-the-top, and supremely focused on spectacle. We see a departure from this classic strategy with Joanne, instead replaced with intimate songs about family, religion, and relationships.

A Year Abroad in Lyon

Lyon may not mean much to many of you, you might have heard of its football team Olympique Lyonnais, driven through it on the way to the Alps or simply know that it’s located in France. Well, that was about the extent of my knowledge one year and a half ago. However, after living there for eight months last year, I fell in love with its chilled out atmosphere, cobbled Renaissance quarter, the plethora of restaurants and its cultural vibe.
