It’s that time of year again, folks! You know, when sports teams all over the country decide to strip off for charity in the form of a naked calendar? We may not have the Warwick Rowers, but our calendar is better because we have more team spirit, right?
This year, all the proceeds from the calendars once again go to the Teenage Cancer Trust. Last year, a total of £2500 was raised and the committee are hoping that that figure is surpassed this year.
The calendar is made up of fourteen sports clubs, which are chosen every year on a first come first served basis. So, if you wanna see one of your hot friends strip down (or if you are that hot friend wanting to strip down), get in there early next year and sign up your team!
The clubs this year were water polo, woman’s football, woman’s rugby, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, netball, cheerleading, women’s basketball, tennis, woman’s lacrosse, women’s golf, surf, men’s hockey and handball.
The photos are taken in various locations around town, either in places relevant to the sport or by our favourite St. Andrews landmarks. I mean, stripping down in Scottish weather is brave enough but kudos to all of you (I’m looking at you girls on the Old Course especially) who risked being seen by tourists.
In addition to raising money for a great charity, the calendar also serves to promote the Saint Sports community as well as be an advocate for body positivity, which I’m sure we’d all agree is an extremely important message to reflect upon.
So, if you were lucky enough to grab one of the sold-out calendars, go forth and enjoy it! I guess you’ll be enjoying it for a full year but still…
