On Friday, only the most glamorous guys and gals descended upon the Rusacks Hotel for arguably the most highly anticipated fashion event of the semester, the DONT WALK 2014 Launch Party. Expectations were high as the DW committee smartly abandoned their usual choice (and lets face it, every one else’s), the Vic, in favor of the subtle sophistication of R-Bar and Rocca Restaurant, both located on the picturesque 18th hole of the Old Course.
It all started off with a Russian analogue camera – a Lomo Kompakt Automat – found by two students in Austria in the 1990s. A few casual snaps later, they had the film inside developed, only to find a truly great result: vibrant shots, saturated with colour, and framed with a shadowy vignette. They had discovered a new artistic medium that would take the amateur world of photography by storm. And so, Lomography was born.
