Whenever I tell someone that I am from Florida, people usually respond with “Oh wow! I’ve been to Orlando and Miami, it was great!” or “Yeah, my grandparents live in Ft Lauderdale”. Central and South Florida are great places, don’t get me wrong, but the hidden gems are up in the Panhandle, just below the Alabama-Florida state line.
The most beautiful place in Florida is on a little strip of a scenic highway called 30A, home to a strand of small communities, each with a unique, architecturally distinct aesthetic. One of highlights of 30A is Seaside, a 30 minute drive from my town Destin. I might be a little biased, but trust me when I say it is stunning. Here is a glimpse into the paradise I have grown up exploring. (And yes, the water really is this blue.)
Essentially everything here is aesthetically pleasing, from the Chapel (popular for weddings as well as the regular Sunday services) to the town’s iconic landmark, Seaside is all a Wes Anderson dream! It is fair to say that summer at home treated me well. And the perk of being from this area? Returning to the same warmth and beauty for Christmas!
