What to Wear: Catwalk

St. Andrew’s suffers from the rare phenomenon of having its own fashion season. This Saturday Catwalk has the honour of kicking the semesters fashion shows off. As always Owl Eyes is here as your fashion fairy godmother to make you FROW worthy (and I don’t mean front row lecture theatre).

Extend Catwalk’s Streetstyle theme beyond the runway and take a sporty shift dress for a whirl. Streetstyle means comfort in my book, so abandon the towering heels for a dapper pair of metallic espadrilles. Add a pop of colour with a turquoise clutch, and show of your styling credentials with layered geometric necklaces.

Take smart casual to a new level by juxtaposing an oxblood leather midi-skirt and sequined logo T-shirt. Channel fashion blogger Susie Bubble and you’ll nail the quirky elegance that only comes with wearing a statement necklace over a t-shirt. Heels are a must for this look, you’re legs will have Kendal Jenner green with envy.

This is the ideal time to dip your toe in the unfamiliar world of ‘culottes’, or the topshop equivalent ‘awkward length trousers’. To banish horrific childhood memories of ¾ length trousers, keep the silhouette sleek and sexy with a bodysuit, I’m a big fan of this holographic number. For those feeling a little shy, warm up to the evening with a worn leather jacket thrown over you’re shoulders.

For those itching to steel the limelight, dazzle even the models in this dress, that might as well have been made for a modern day mermaid. Prevent the glitter from taking you too far into traditional St. Andrews ball territory with lace up heels and a bold clutch. Go easy on the jewellery, you wouldn’t want to detract from that slinky sparkle.

Just a few final word’s of advice: “be bold”. Fashion season only comes once a year, embrace it.
